June 2021 Races - Various Locations

Live racing slowly returning to the eastern part of the country. Still, it’s wise to check with meet directors for cancellations or staggered starts.

The fifth annual SSG Michael Ollis 5K and 2-Mile Walk highlights the local racing slate. After being held virtually in 2020, the Ollis Run will be held on June 13 on New Dorp Lane at 9 a.m. There is also a virtual option.

The race commemorates the memory of Ollis, a 24-year-old U.S. Army veteran who was killed in Afghanistan on August 28, 2013 while shielding a wounded Polish soldier from an insurgent’s suicide vest. The race, started in 2017, is also designed to raise funds for veterans through the SSG Michael Ollis Freedom Foundation.

Sign-up here to register for the race. It costs $35 to enter the live race, the two-mile walk and wheelchair race. Entry fee for the virtual run is $40. Registration at the prices above ends June 12 for all categories.
